Well I missed my Makes Me Happy Monday post......that's what comes from being busy and thinking you don't have enough hours in the day, plus I was having a curtain making lesson all day, and can now happily say that I now know how to make curtains and have started making Charley's curtains for her room - it's only taken me since January - oops!!!
I also have a new and exciting venture coming up involving a new coffee shop that's opening in Lingfield, Surrey. It's called The Place To Meet and I have met the owner, heard her plans and am really excited to be involved in a small way, even if it is going to keep me extremely busy over the next few weeks :)
The hard work doesn't stop there though, I have my Macmillan coffee morning in a few weeks time too, so I am busily making items to sell there, with all monies raised going to this great charity.......and then I still have to get ready for Christmas. Yes, it'll be here before we know it and I am writing lots of lists to keep myself organised and on track. I'll need a holiday by the end of it all :)
The only down side recently has been 2 parcels of mine have gone astray thanks to Royal Mail. They were both personal custom things made by me for friends and now I have to find time to remake them and repost them, disappointing and costly for me and disappointing for the people waiting for them. It's so annoying as a lot of hard work went into these things and they are probably lying battered and abandoned somewhere.
Heres one little thing I have put together, a Union Jack throw, and you can buy the pattern here. This is just the pieced top, I'll get it sandwiched and quilted once I've got some nice backing for it in the next couple of weeks :)
I saw some delicious fabric a while back, designed by Anna Griffin - I used to use her papers back in my scrapbooking days :)
Well this range of fabric was called Lizzie and I just knew Chaz would love it - we had even used some of it as the backing fabric on Chaz's first quilt she made, and luckily I found a kit at The Quilt Room in Dorking not only using this gorgeous fabric, but with a pretty simple, but effective, quilt pattern. So today I have made up the kit, just finished piecing it all and will leave the sandwiching and quilting to next week.
I can't really do much more until I go out tomorrow morning and collect a 15m roll of wadding. I have completely run out - not good especially as I am on my busiest time, running up to Christmas. Not only do I have presents to make, I am also involved with a Secret Santa Swap with some friends in America, I am preparing for my Macmillan Charity Sale, trying to build up stock for an online shop and there may be one other exciting prospect on the horizon - will share more after next week when I hope to know more myself.
Now I'm off to spend some time with my husband, have a well earned dinner and chill out for the evening - have a good weekend everyone :)
A cute little coffee shop which by the looks of some the meals coming out of the kitchen, a great place to have lunch too. It also sells some cute little gifts and cards - really nice, but what was the nicest was chilling and chatting with my friend.
Remember this post about my new glasses....well the case that came with the glasses was ridiculous, it was just a bit too small, so one arm would poke out the end and it had a zip going all the way round it, which would get stuck at the one point where the arm was poking out, and it was literally driving me insane.
So after a few weeks of whinging (yeah I know you wouldn't think it of me would you - LOL) I made my own case.......far prettier than the boring grey case that came with the glasses, it has a velcro opening so easy to open and close and you do not have to do battle with the case to get your glasses in or out.
I will be making lots more of these as I have various sunglasses laying around the house, which have all abandoned their original cases......and I better make some in some 'man' colours as Ross is always leaving his sunglasses here there and everywhere, they get scratched, lost and generally not looked after.....
So while I make some more, I'll leave you with a visual of the item that has made me most happy today LOL
