Things have been quiet here lately.....Charley went back to university, all summer socialising is over - phew, Ross is really busy with work and my depression is back :( So as I usually do, I find solace in my sewing, crochet and now lampshade making too!!!
I went with a couple of friends one evening to Cath Kidston in Windsor where we had a go at making our own lampshades. I have to admit, it was pretty easy and a nice evening out and Charley has now got a nice lampshade, once we get the base for it, but the store has said they won't be in for a few weeks.......I can see me making lots more, hopefully it'll make a dent in my fabric stash.......then again maybe not LOL
Another thing I've been doing to keep myself busy (read sane here) is taking a class to make the Civil War Love Letters quilt at Patchwork Corner. The class is only once a month so not too overwhelming and lots of sewing time at home. There are 121 blocks, all 6 inch finished size and I am foundation piecing mine. I'm really enjoying it and am using a whole lot of fat quarters that have been sitting around for a while just waiting for a project. Here's the blocks I've done so far.....
The last block with the green and mustard colour is jumping out at me right now, but I think once I've made a few more with those colours in it won't stand out too much. The tutor assures me that the more colours used the better and her quilt is a whole range of colours and looks gorgeous. It is a stunning quilt and one I probably wouldn't have made just for the sake of it, so taking a class is good because it's pushing me to do something new :) You can find the book with all the blocks in here Civil War Love Letters.
Anyway, that's all the news I have for now....time to play with some more foundation piecing.
Have a nice weekend :)
